From publisher blurb:

The Cosmic Charters
In the world of DayLITE: Fantasy, there are three delineations when it comes to understanding how Great Beings formulate their power and become deities. These are Spirits, Divinities, and Archons - the Cosmic Charters. Aligned each with two of the six primordial magicks across the universe, these beings are born from within this magic, formulated and created by the innate sentient abilities of the magick, drawn from their collective consciousness. While they may have different names and fade or form over the eons, at the end of the debate, all these beings are the same thing at their core: power from beyond.

Can Great Beings Die Or Be Killed?
The short answer is no, Great Beings cannot die. They can be Shattered, where their power is so failed or waned and their believers so few that they cease to hold corporeal form. They can be Imprisoned by the combined power of three other Great Beings - one from each Charter. And, they can be Forgotten, when no one remembers their existence. It is a sad day when a Great Being is Forgotten, and the universe shudders.

Is There A Certain Number Of Great Beings?
This answer is also no, Great Beings exist in the thousands and millions - the more accurate question being how many can exist at one time. It depends greatly on how many are truly Believed In and Remembered. Think of it like a lake: before a rain, there is a finite amount of water that will rise or fall depending on environmental factors. Sometimes it might rain heavily and cause the lake to rise and flood, or there might be a drought and this will cause the lake to shrink in size.

This works the same with Great Beings. At any one time, there is a set pantheon of Great Beings who will never truly fade given their cardinal Values or Domains, things that are constant: fire, war, death, light, harvest. However, smaller Great Beings might appear over time and rise to higher positions or power and become a set part of the main pantheon, while others might spark and fizzle and appear in throngs. These moments where there are mass Beliefs or Risings of Great Beings are called Manifestations, and this causes the pantheon to become unwieldy and “flood” its borders. Other moments where there might be mass Imprisonments or Forgettings of Great Beings are called Cullings. However, just like our lake in the analogy, the pantheon eventually finds a way for it to right itself and balance itself out.
