From the introduction:

Bursting through the skylight in a shower of wood beams and shattering glass, the Crimson Cougar landed with a grace that would do an Olympic athlete proud, and almost as soon as his booted feet hit the warehouse floor, he was moving. The staccato roar of a Tommy gun pierced the darkness, high caliber slugs raking the space where the hero was just seconds ago. By the time thug firing the Tommy gun got his weapon back under control, and realized at he’d hit nothing but air and packing crates, he was already down, taken out by one of the Cougar’s cuarae tipped throwing claws. He fell with a gurgle.
