Match the Dots

Game ID: GID0204184
Collection Status
Description

This is an abstract game about pattern matching, achieved by dropping colored chips into one of 7 vertical channels. The patterns to be matched are determined by cards drawn from a target pattern deck. The first to match 5 patterns wins.

Gameplay is reminiscent of the popular Connect Four games, with some innovative twists. The target patterns consist of several of 4 different color 'dots', either in a straight line or an angle. The chips are two-sided with different colors on each side: dark green with pale yellow OR dark blue with pale red-rose. Each player rolls a die each turn to determine which color they must play. Players know the opponent's target, depicted in the mirror colors on the reverse of the target cards, and thus play defensive blocking while seeking to create their own target pattern.

After a pattern match occurs, play continues until one player attains a fifth match. Chips are not removed from the grid board unless the grid is fully filled.

Players should expect longer gameplay time and more complex planning than in Connect Four.
