Memory Kings is a mix of the games Chess and Pairs (a.k.a. Match Up or memory). It is a short abstract memory game with a tactical twist for 1 to 4 players. Players are kings commanding their pawns to explore and recruit forces to their side. They must find divided troops to recruit them by strategically moving the pawns across the field, and soliciting rooks, bishops, knights, or the Queen herself to escort them. The player that recruits the most pairs wins!
You can learn it in less than 5 minutes and the mechanics are light enough so kids and the most casual players will be hooked instantly. However, there's strategical depth that will satisfy the most competitive players. Even more exciting, as one of the main skills required to master Memory Kings is... well... Memory, don't be surprised if you find yourself in a balanced match against your younger children!
