new and original story that expands on the Metro Universe. Players take on the role of Anna, Khan and Pavel, in their respective levels, as an accompaniment to Artyom's story. It also features 6 new trophies/achievements.
Mission 1: Pavel - After escaping from Artyom and Simon in Venice, Pavel is recaptured by bandits who reside there. When the level starts, one of them has him tied to a post, torturing him. He tells Pavel they are in a power plant that supplies Venice with energy. However, it is created by human labor. The leader of the bandits has demanded Pavel join the slaves. The bandit prepares to give Pavel an injection that will render him unable to do anything but push the generator, but Pavel slips his hands over the post and attacks the bandit, jamming the syringe in his neck instead before throwing him down a drainpipe.
Mission 2: Khan - The player plays as Ulman, assisting Khan in first stopping a Hansa train occupied by the Red Line, (the same one found in The Chase level) and then fighting Nosalises inside an abandoned Metro station - Polyanka - the same one seen in the Mobius trailer. During a dream sequence in Polyanka, Uhlman temporarily relives the attack on Polyanka by Nosalises, through Khan's eyes (the player plays as a young Khan), in which Khan was forced to close the gate to Polyanka, dooming his friends there.
Mission 3: Anna - The player plays as Anna, assisting Artyom in the Botanical Gardens. The mission is actually a replay of the Ashes level from the main campaign, albeit from Anna's perspective, meaning the player first provides overwatch while Artyom hunts for the Dark One that Khan claimed to have seen, then later extends Ashes by having Anna chase after Artyom after the latter was captured by Reich Stalkers.
