Description

Finland hosted the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1991, and this is the official promotional game of the event, licensed to use the various logos, mascot etc.

The game can be played as a 2-player game or as a tournament for 4 players; a second, identical game board is provided for this. Each team consists of 6 players (generic pawns); one pawn at a time is used to move the puck with 2d6, trying to get to one of the shooting positions in order to score - but the puck can only stay with the same pawn for one turn, after which it must be passed. Opposing pawns will naturally try to capture it on their own turn. Some points on the board will trigger an event card which can be good or bad; the designer suggests that this is an 'advanced variant' and the first few games should be played without.

The game ends when a pre-agreed number of goals have been scored; in a tournament game, the losing teams and the winning teams will meet each other, and the one to score the most goals wins.
