A 12-tile fan expansion for Carcassonne centered around the rich cultural heritage of Spain. As the nation with the 3rd most UNESCO World Heritage sites (48, as of July 2019, behind Italy and China), Spain is rich in monasteries. This expansion gathers the most important ones, together with a new way of playing.
Similarly to other expansions consisting in monasteries, the player will be given the option to play them as a regular monastery by placing a monk or as a Spanish monastery by placing an abbot, simbolized by a meeple balanced on its side.
Special rules apply to the Spanish Monasteries, which score points for having features in the 8 surrounding tiles. The more features around it, the greater the score. But beware, the abbot and the scoring of the Spanish Monastery will only happen once those features are fully complete. Should things not go as you hoped, don't worry, you will still get some points on end-game scoring.
