Publisher's description:

Sometimes, it only takes one distinct characteristic for a monster to stick in our memories forever.

Sometimes, it’s the nuances in a battle that makes a strike so beautifully epic.

Sometimes, it's the monster’s crazed, desperate last moments that cause others to shudder.

Monster Description Cards are extensive storytelling tools suitable for use with any system, containing purposely unique flavor text to add realism or memorable characterization to creatures and their subsequent events. These cards provide keywords to spark your imagination and example phrases for their use. Written by novelists and organized by dungeon-masters, the cards are designed for quick on-the-fly use and inherently add randomization. The list of monster parts uniquely depicted include, but are not limited to, Horns, Teeth, Claws, Protrusions, Bodily Forms (Hides, Ears, Eyes, etc.), Tails, Wings, and Tentacles.

Between great heroes and great monsters lies the pinnacle of drama — Combat. The unrelenting tension that comes with knowing blood will be spilled, and life may be lost. Monster Description Cards will guide you while you detail these moments, providing keywords and examples for horns that PIERCE, claws that SLASH, tails that BLUDGEON, and more. Hundreds of new ways to describe monster strikes in these familiar categories: Slashing, Piercing, Bludgeon.

What happens when a monster is cornered, heavily injured, or both? What if the creature is smart enough to be deceitful, spiteful, or vindictive in its last moments? How can you subtly share that your monster is on its last legs, but there is still a worrisome hint of malice in their eyes? These questions are all answered by the LAST STAND section of the cards. Where examples help illustrate the response of creatures facing overwhelming odds and perhaps displaying heroism, sacrifice, or wickedness of their own.
