If you are a Dungeon Master, your adventuring parties doubtlessly have faced off against innumerous acolytes, bandits, guards, thugs, and so forth over the years. Invaiably they are genderless, featureless humans that fight and die in the same fashion over and over again, utterly unremarkable and forgetable.
These encounters become rote for both DM and player after a while. It is sadly acknowledged by all that these bland, faceless mooks are the cost of admission to the wondrous encounters against trolls, vampires, dragons and demons to come at higher levels.
More Ruffians! hopes to breathe some life into these dull, uninspiring encounters. Inside its pages are 19 alternate statblocks for the creatures that appear in Appendix B of the Monster Manual. These NPCs can be swapped out one-for-one for their counterparts without altering the challenge rating of the encounter.
