Mother Hubbard

Game ID: GID0217962
Collection Status
Description

Game includes a deck of cards, each with the picture and name of an item. Some of them (e.g. bread) are mentioned in the nursery rhyme Old Mother Hubbard and some (e.g. cabbage) are not. In the first part of the game, the reader reads the Old Mother Hubbard nursery rhyme aloud. If a player has one of the items mentioned, they discard it. The first player to discard all their cards wins. If no one has done so by the time the reader finishes the rhyme, proceed to part 2. The reader now reads the next part of the text, pausing every time they reach a blank. The next player in turn fills in that blank by naming and discarding one of their cards. For example, the first line in part 2 is "Oh my poor little dog/It grieves me to tell/What wondrous adventures/That doggy befell/One day he was sick/He had swallowed ____". The next player might complete the line with "a poodle" and discard that card.
