Deep in the Estvol Mountains, a group of miners lay huddled in their cabins outside of the entrance to a massive cave. All productivity within the Kalstorn Mines has ceased after a chain of incidents has led to the belief that a monster lies within the mines, picking off the miners one by one. At the same time, a group of adventurers find themselves in the frontier town of Kalstorn, at the base of the mountains. Will they follow the distress call into the mountains and confront the Monster of the Kalstorn Mines in a deadly game of cat and mouse, or enter the darkness of the caves to never return?
Murder in the Mountains is a one-shot adventure for a party of adventurers at around Level 4 or 5. It details their entrance into the town of Kalstorn, where they can learn about the history of the Kalstorn Mines and the troubles that have befallen the town, and purchase supplies to help them on their trek up the mountain. It can be run as a standalone adventure or be slotted into an existing campaign.
