The Murmuring Stones were held by the nine ruling sisters of Morgan Dhwyl, the tyrant. The tale is still told how she desired the power of the stones for herself, and so cursed her sisters with a skin of marble. They say her sisters sneer with eternal vitriol from the Mountain of Cavan, unable to extract revenge on their traitor sibling.
