Shinseiki Evangelion: Kōtetsu no Girlfriend (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン鋼鉄のガールフレンド), colloquially referred to as either "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel" or "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Iron Maiden", is a video game created by Gainax that is based on the anime series Evangelion. It was initially released on Windows PC in 1997 before getting Macintosh, Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation ports in 1998. The game features a new original character, Mina Kirishima, as a potential love interest for Shinji.
Gameplay is similar to a visual novel / dating sim game and features full voice-acting by the actors from the show. The story is set somewhere around the 13th episode during the peaceful time before the battle with the Angel, Ireul. The player's choices actually influence the flow of the story and can lead to three very different endings.
In April 2006, a Special Edition was released for the PlayStation 2 and the PC as part of the series' ten-year anniversary. This release includes additional scenes as well as a bonus fourth ending. This version was later ported to the PlayStation Portable on April 9th 2009.
