NFL GameDay 2001 was the sixth installment of the series and the first to be released on the PlayStation 2. The version on the original PlayStation focused on tweaking elements which had been problematic in earlier years' games. The PS2 version, taking advantage of the greater graphical capacity of the new system, had 1,100 motion-captured moves taken from 13 professional players.
