Ninja Gaiden Shadow is a side scroller game and a prequel to Ninja Gaiden. It is 1985, 3 years before the events of Ninja Gaiden.
You control Ryu Hayabusa and your quest is to defeat an evil Emperor who is threatening New York City. Your enemies include other humans, cyborgs and machines which you must defeat by means of your sword, or by using your magical "fire wheel" technique of which you have limited charges. You can recharge your magical power and your life by finding power ups along the five stages of the game. It goes without telling that a powerful boss awaits you at the end of each stage.
