From the introduction:
This game isn’t a game that’s meant to be read, memorized, and played without the text. Instead, the text will walk you through the game, step-by-step. You will only need to turn the pages when you’re specifically told to; otherwise, don’t read ahead. Each page is divided in two; one half faces Edward and one half faces the doctor. There is something each player needs to do before he is ready to turn the page. If you’re ready, tell the other player. Then when he’s ready, he’ll turn the page.
When you are ready to start playing, fi rst decide who will portray Edward and who will portray the doctor. Sit down at your table and set the text in between you. Turn your stack of printouts so that this page is right side up from Edward’s perspective, and turn the page.
