From the introduction:

In the five weeks since Lady Suinsarrow declared herself God-Queen, She has consolidated Her control. The Knights of the city have been eradicated through a series of executions, the Barrows have become the site for Her new palace, and the Mayor’s Mansion has been left vacant for the time being. The citizenry have been put under martial law as Suinsarrow continues to build her army. The city, once filled with fairer folks, now showcases a definite devilish slant – horns and fangs are not uncommon in the daytime and few normal folk care to venture out of their homes at night. Suinsarrow has elevated those willing to bend to Her dark nature to leadership posts in Her army.

The City itself remains in the sky. Initially held aloft through sheer will alone, Suinsarrow has grown an incredible gray metallic tree from the hewn earth and lifted it to hold the city high in the sky. The trunk of the tree is hollow, allowing additional protected space for her many forges and for the mustering of her terrible armies.

Outside of the world, neighboring states have grown concerned, but few are ready yet to act on this new threat. Within the city, a feeble resistance has sprung up consisting of any remaining Knights as well as citizens unable to reconcile themselves with this new evil life.
