Description

Oneover is a game for two players: Black and White. It is played on the spaces (cells) of an initially empty hexagonal grid of hexagons (board).

DefinitionsA group is a stone along with all stones one can reach from it through a series of steps onto adjacent stones of the same color.

The value of a group is one divided by the number of stones in it. For example, the value of a 5-stone group is 0.2.

PlayBlack plays first, then turns alternate. On your turn, place a stone of your color on an empty cell.

When the board is full, the player with the lower score wins. Your score is the sum of the values of your groups. If there is a tie, whoever has fewer groups wins. If the tie persists, White wins.

To make the game fair, White will have the option, on their first turn only, to swap sides with Black instead of making a regular move.

NotesStrategy revolves around having as few groups as possible and having group values as uniform as possible. It is possible to follow these general principles without much actual arithmetic.
