Adventure Background
The Mountains hold great secrets, and these mountains are no different. Deep within the holler a cave entrance has a large tree growing over the entrance. The orcs living here are pretty far from human towns or other civilized lands.
A single, injured, and fleeing vampire stumbled upon the cave weeks earlier. The orcs fell him quickly when he attacked their tribe. However, none knew the actual danger they faced when one of their dead rose back to life. The orcs believed it merely a sign of the strength of that orc, a blessing of their faith. They were terribly wrong.
Two more rose as well. So began the terrible feast. They fed upon male, female, and down to the chief itself spreading this vile taint in every fell orc. It took a week for the last orc to fall. Deep underground it was easy for the vampires to maintain their siege, and difficult for the living orcs to get rest.
Now, starving, the vampire orcs have begun to roam the forest. Hunters noticed it first. Dead animals drained of blood and torn apart. Then travelers. Either way the party has been asked to go and put an end to these marauding orcs. The real question is, do they know the orcs are vampiric, or will that be a surprise to the party?
