The investigators are members of The Society of the Beyond, an informal group of several dozen academics and enthusiasts all with an interest in unexplained mysteries and bizarre phenomena, based at the British Museum. They come upon a theft from the museum that uncovers some things are best left in the past, undisturbed through the ages.
Six pre-generated investigators are provided for use with this scenario, which plays both as an introduction to Call of Cthulhu (7th Edition) whilst also being a duly mysterious and horrific adventure for more experienced players.
