Description

Out on a Limb is a simple card game about family history. Although the game is published by a Mormon company, there are no specific religious doctrines mentioned in the game and it would be appropriate for any players looking for a genealogy game.

The game play is similar to Hearts. The starting player plays a family card. The other players must play another card in that color if they can. The player who has played the highest value card takes all the cards and starts the next round. After all the cards have been played, players look through the cards they won, and use them to fill in a "Family Tree" card. The first player to fill in their family tree up to great-great-grandparents is the winner.

The deck of 60 cards is comprised of 4 colors (or suits) numbered 1 to 15. There are 5 ancestor cards in the blue suit (1, 5, 7, 9, 13), 4 in the yellow suit (4, 6, 8, 12), and 3 ancestor cards in the red (4, 6, 8) and green (5, 7, 9) suits.
