Adventure Background
The desert buries many secrets. Even some of the greatest cities have been buried by sands that many travel over every day. Secrets in the sand hide terrifying mysteries, and horrifying secrets.
The ‘Cult of the Outer Stars’ seeks one of these terrifying mysteries. It was founded long ago by a crazed cleric who discovered their power was denied by their god. Driven mad by the abandonment, the cleric followed an ancient legend about a power buried deep in the desert sands.
It was only in the last years of their life that the cleric discovered a long sealed tomb and what was buried within. None were certain what exactly they discovered, but since that time they have been known as ‘The Faceless One’, an androgynous cleric who claims to have seen a glimpse of a world far beyond the darkness of the night sky. They have led their followers across the desert for decades discovering and collecting the right materials to construct what the Faceless One calls a ‘Voidgate’ to bring themselves and their followers to an alien paradise.
