Pixilated, a Game of Numbskulls
The player characters are Pixies, members of the Seelie Court - the "good" Fae. They might also be called Brownies or Hobgoblins, and are known in many cultures by many other names. What they are definitely NOT, is smart. Roughly half-witted, in fact, as it takes two of them to come up with a clever idea, or to notice any flaws in their plans.
Each session, the PCs are sent on an errand by King Oberon to the mundane world of humans. Oberon will be pleasantly astonished if the PCs actually succeed in their mission, as he is largely sending them out of Faerie just to be rid of their loveable but annoying presence. If you've ever seen the movie Time Bandits, think of the Little People portrayed there, or of the Mechanicals in A Midsummer Night's Dream: sometimes accidentally competent. Or of the Brownies Franjean and Rool in the movie Willow... you get the idea.
Pixies are not evil Fae, but the PCs will encounter those. They are the Unseelie, the enemies of the Seelie Court. Fortunately they are obviously hostile even to the dimwitted, so the PCs may be attacked, but not be fooled by them. Not by most of them, anyway…
The usual mission of the PCs is to reward good humans and play mischievous (but not really harmful) tricks on mean humans. Love potions are often involved; mission success is not a given…
