1 New toxic Rogue Archetype - The Poisoner
Detailed notes regarding balancing the class against existing antipoison game rules.
1 NPC Statblock for a Trained Poisoner
We have tried to create a subclass with a defined niche, that has a reason for wanting to adventure in the wilderness but is most at home in a, roleplay heavy, urban intrigue campaign. The poisoner is the thinking man’s assassin, bringing death by dangerous drinking to the table - amongst other things.
Not every rogue likes to find themselves in the thick of the fray. The poisoner prefers to deal with their enemies more subtly - striking with a blade only if all else fails. Some atypical poisoners may fight with toxin coated weapons, but most prefer to place their poisons into the food and drink that their enemies will consume, or to meticulously paint them onto the surface of their target’s most precious and prized objects, so the merest touch causes their health to fail. Still other poisoners relish the look of shock as they blow toxic dust into the faces of their foes.
The most accomplished poisoners can create concoctions that only become toxic after some time has elapsed, or when the substance mixes with a seemingly innocent catalyst. A poisoner is usually more than happy to be long gone from the scene of the crime, hearing about their success or failure second hand - prizing their own safety from prosecution far above their professional pride.
