POLITICO: The board game

Game ID: GID0249695
Collection Status
Description

A board game about political intrigue in renaissance Florence.

Players take the roles of political parties and compete for the seats in the Senate.

The seats are bound to six political issues which progress in their value over the course of the game. The player who dominates the most important ones wins.

Player draft cards from a deck containing characters and action cards and then perform four actions with which to play them, receive money, gather followers or attack their opponents.

At the end of each turn, a political agenda needs to be resolved and players secretly vote on their desired outcomes.

Deals and collaboration are equally important for this as lies and deception at the right time.

After five turns (terms of office) the game ends and the victory points are calculated.

POLITICO offers:

drafting cards
compelling card play
resource management
territory control (sort of)
strong emphasis on communication and interaction
beautiful, all human artwork from painters of the era
