Prepositional Phrase Words – How can you quickly modify a noun, verb, or adjective? Prepositional phrases provide further information about more exactly what, when, where, and why for nouns, verbs, and adjectives. These words may be used to expand upon the relationship of the time, space, location, direction, agent, and instrument of the action and description of a scene. Prepositional phrases begin with as preposition and end with an object of the preposition—and may or may not include modifiers. When to roll: When a character needs to know even greater detail about something described or happening, that the character doesn’t already know, from observing or asking someone else. A first use is it's helpful for when a character needs to know even greater information about the when, where, why, or how of a sentence or statement. A second use is in helping to flesh out dialogue either to indicate greater detail about someone, something, or somewhere. These words are a large resource pools that can fuel sandbox style roleplaying games.
