While some concoctions may have commonplace effects, many are unique and have surprising (and sometimes less than desirable) effects. All effects are expressed based on the 5e rule set and terminology to put effects into concrete terms. Feel free to change the effects (stronger/weaker/different appearance, etc.) as appropriate for your particular campaign and rule set.
To make the concoctions a bit more unique, you can spin a story about their origin to serve as a way to introduce more backstory into your game. For instance:
Who would have created such an odd concoction?
Was it done on purpose?
Was it a mistaken formulation?
Or was it an alchemist having a bit of fun?
However you decide to add these concoctions to your game, your players will surely delight in finding something other than the same old things they find campaign after campaign.
