From publisher blurb:

Shatterd Islands

Once a united landmass, the lands of the Astralos Principalities have become shattered and disparate. Many myths surround the islands’ creation: Wars, misuse of magic, a Yeti sneezing too hard. Some more believable than others. Despite their separation, subtle magics bind the people there. The fractured nature of the Principalities has given rise to several, vastly different groups of people. No one group has reached a level of strength to properly assert control over the region. Instead, seven pirate ‘Princes’ stand at the top of the chain, holding sway over the lower Captains. From the few records that have survived, it appears to have been this way since the dawn of the Principalities. The seas around the islands are full of mystery and fraught with danger. Stories of ghostly ships, monsters of the dredge, false islands and carnivorous fog are told over campfires and mugs of ale. Several attempts have been made to properly map the area and document the phenomena and creatures within, but the endeavor seems endless.

The seven Princes, heads of their respective clans, are said to hold artifacts that have granted them power. These seven artifacts are as old as the islands themselves, leading some to speculate that they were the cause of the fracturing. Most of the infighting revolves around ego contests between the Princes. In recent years, these conflicts appear to have a rising frequency. Some of the motivations of the Princes are becoming more indecipherable, some Princes are becoming reclusive. The frequency of storms is on the rise, massive waves batter the coats and the Princes are paying more attention to each other than the Imperium on their doorstep.

Darkness Rising

What Jack presents within this book is an archipelago that once stood as a noble and adventurous place, but that is slowly beginning to fall and fade into disarray. Each of the islands presents a different genre feel, with the overall mood of the islands being one of horror, with underlying themes of eldrtich paranoia and suspensful political shifts. Whether you choose to begin on Abtoris under the eye of Prince Totena in her Abtori Colosseum, or delve into the mysteries of the living mists of Fogland Reef, the Principalities are dark and dangerous. And with the worry of the Kekorak Imperium looming more and more in the north, this book will add to any Ramia game you might be running.
