Redcoats & Rangers

Description

A game of Australian colonial history for 2-8 players in two teams: redcoats (colonial soldiers) chase bushrangers (outlaws) through the outback.

On each turn, a player draws from one of several decks of action cards. While free and on land this will be the Pace deck, a mixture of optional movement cards (move a number of spaces on a single terrain type, more on roads and grassland and less in rougher terrain) and thematic events. Redcoats can only catch bushrangers by drawing from the Capture deck. Captured rangers draw from the Escape deck in the hope of a lucky break. Anyone in the river draws from the Swim deck, which tends to wash them back downstream towards the camp, but as bushrangers can't be captured in the water it may be the only means of escape.

Redcoats win by escorting a captured bushranger back to camp; bushrangers win if one escapes to their den.
