RIP is a generic, universal system that can be adapted to almost any genre of traditional role-playing. The game is a rules-light structure that assumes a significant amount of Game Master input and development in a specific genre before it will support a campaign.
Characters are generated from a Character Point pool which are used to buy Attributes, Skills, and Background Options. A "normal human being" can be built for five points; characters start with about 20 points. Characters have Attributes (Strength, Endurance, Agility, Awareness, Willpower, ans Social. Attributes have Levels ranging from -2 to +2 with 0 being average. Special Attributes may be added to support specific genres. Skills represent learned or natural abilities; Skills have a Level ranging from 0 to 4. Background Options give characters a diverse range of possible benefits.
