Description

Rod Soccer is a relatively inexpensive reimplementation of the dome-style hockey games found in many arcade halls. The game combines many aspects and game play of Rod Hockey and Foosball.

Using steel rods, plastic or metal soccer players slide along defined track segments. There are five players and one goalie per side, just like in its Rod Hockey predecessor. Players simultaneously turn and move their five metal rods to pass and shoot the ball. Games can be played using a timer or to a set number of points.

Various field and ball designs have been used over the years, attempting to capture the realistic feel of soccer, while reducing bounce and the ball being ejected from the game.

Skilled players can learn how to alter their shots between "ground" balls and volley shots.

The game is light enough to be played on any elevated surface (such as a dining table or coffee table). It remains as light as the Rod Hockey predecessor.
