The fanzine is now 4 years old! 48 monthly issues!
I am having one of those ‘Where has all the time gone?’ moments. It doesn’t feel like I have written 48 issues of this. Of the 47 issues already published, 13 are DriveTruRPG bestsellers with at least Copper medals. Altogether, they have sold nearly 1,700 copies.
I played around with print-on-demand versions in the early days, and those will be back starting in the summer. I will be putting the fanzine out as PDF on DTRPG and Kindle and in print from June onwards.
I started the fanzine because, at the time, ICE seemed to be in retreat. The Guild Companion had started as a printed magazine, then as an online-only magazine, and then just showing previews of upcoming products. Then it died off, or at least went into hibernation. The Adventurers’ Quarterly started out quarterly but took something like seven years to publish four issues and then died.
This was all at a time when everyone was clamoring for more, not less. So the fanzine was born.
