Travel North American city routes picking up wordy packages. A manifest indicates what needs to be picked up. Packages are identified by the letters in the manifested words and are taken from the adjacent cities on your route.
"Route Words" is a word game where you travel from city to city collecting letters to make words.
One to six or more players simultaneously compete to get the highest scoring words.
Lasercut Components:
• 16x16 game board
• 96 city route tiles
• 6 trucks
• 20 doubled sided manifest cards with 120 root words
• 6 dry erase tracking boards & dry erase markers
Initial Setup:
1. Assemble the game board.
2. Randomly scatter the city route tiles within the board.
3. Fix any “orphaned” cities.
4. Give each player a truck.
5. Shuffle and place the manifest cards in a draw pile.
6. Agree upon a winning target score, for example 200 points.
Game Play:
One player reveals the next manifest card (either side is fine).
Players simultaneously attempt to call out a word, adjust their score and move their truck to the last city on their new route.
Making a Word:
A word is formed by collecting all of the letters that match one of the manifest’s words from names of one or more adjacent cities along a route. Additional letters may be added to increase the score.
With six words available per manifest, it should be possible to almost always make a word.
Examples
Using the manifest word “AND”, the truck picks up letters from the route to VANDALIA via LOS ANGELES to collect GLANDS
for 8 points. The bus will end up in Vandalia, ready to use the next manifest. Note that all letters from the manifested word must be used to form the word you collect.
Solo Mode:
In solo mode, use the least number of moves to get to a score of 100 points.
Scoring:
Add up the point values of the letters in your word and adjust the score on your dry erase board.
Winning:
The first person to match or exceed the target score is the winner.
Strategies:
• Quickly examine the cities adjacent to your truck to find the optimal route for making the best word possible.
• Try not to get your bus stuck in a city that has fewer routes leading outward.
