Running Memorable Games: New Background Options

Using the same rules as the official character backgrounds, we are proud to present 30 additional character backgrounds. These options provide greater depth and flexibility when translating your character concepts into the mechanics of Dungeons and Dragons. Some backgrounds, such as the Folk Hero, have been adapted from the 2014 edition, but the majority are original.

Our goal is not to create mechanically superior options, but to represent a wider array of roles and careers typical in a medieval fantasy setting. For those who have felt similarly constrained while creating new characters, we hope this release offers a viable and balanced solution.
