Description

In the northern regions known as Scandinavia live the indigenous Sami people. They play a running fight game called Sahkku. It’s popularity there is shown by the annual championship games and prestigious trophies they give to the winners. The game may be as old as 1,000 years or more, and simulates a battle between two groups of warriors. These warriors start the game asleep, and before they can enter the battle they must be awakened by a specific role of the dice. Thereafter, they move and capture opposing pieces by ending their turn on an occupied space. The path can be blocked by opposing pieces, sending them back to their starting row. There’s also a fickle King with special powers in the game, who joins up with either side when captured. A very different kind of game - one of only a few known to history
