Description

From publisher blurb:

Salamander Style is an art of fire, smoke, and illusion. Rather than traditional martial gear, the salamander warrior wears a cabbage-patch of clothing covered in gaudy ornaments. A stranger (being no fool) will correctly assume that these ornaments have some murderous purpose. They are tools of concealment and distraction, for casting light off a gold medallion or a blade into an opponent’s eyes, or creating patterns of light and dust that appear to be incoming attacks.

Many Salamander warriors supplement these tools with an interest in alchemy. If there’s no light, a few firecrackers thrown into the mix will keep things interesting. If there’s too much light, smoke bombs and even stranger things can be used to provide the concealment the style needs to function. The most advanced (or reckless) students of the style use jury-rigged firewands with ammunition they formulated themselves. It’s no wonder the school still has a reputation for surprises, although sometimes the surprise is that they haven’t blown themselves to bits.
