A deserved hunger for vengeance drives the orcs out of Caecras and into neighboring lands to put an end to the Cult of the New God and the last vestiges of the Empire. Their push takes them along expected routes, but also into places untouched for centuries. One force discovered the error of leaving the path when they entered a pristine forest. When the orcs began cutting trees for their war machines, when they built fires from the fallen timber, they awakened something in that place, and the forest itself moved against them. The trees became as people, ripping and clawing through the surprised solders and sent them fleeing for the safety of open territory. And thus did the hamadryads reveal themselves to a world that had forgotten them.
