This is the only issue ever produced of "Secrets of the Sages" (also know as the "Forgotten Realms Newsletter"). It is an eight-page stapled newsletter containing the following content:
- A Short (for him) Greeting From Elminster (one page): An introduction by Ed Greenwood writing as Elminster.
- High Fantasy... High Art (one page): A page promoting the 1989 Forgotten Realms calendar and the first few Forgotten Realms novels.
- Lands of the Forgotten Realms (three pages): Some setting information about Aglarond, Evermeet and Halruaa which was cut from the original boxed set.
- Tales of the Forgotten Realms (one page): A page promoting the first few Forgotten Realms accessories.
- The North (one page): A map of the northwestern Realms.
- Cover (one page): The cover and mailing information take up half a page each.
