Description

Shinseiki Evangelion: Battle Orchestra (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン バトルオーケストラ), translated as "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Battle Orchestra" is a fighting video game produced by BROCCOLI for PlayStation 2 released on June 28th 2007. It was later re-released for PSP as Shinseiki Evangelion: Battle Orchestra PORTABLE (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン バトルオーケストラ PORTABLE), translated as "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Battle Orchestra Portable" on July 30th 2009 with additional content. The game features a total of 21 characters (24 for PSP) from the series, both Evangelion and Angels, battling each other in an all-out brawl. The game is a side-scrolling 2D fighting game with fully 3D-rendered characters, backgrounds, and environments, similar in spirit to the Super Smash Bros fighting game series.

The game features a cast of Angels and Evangelion from the anime series. On the Angels side, the roster includes Sachiel, Shamshel, Ramiel, Gaghiel, Israfel, Sahaquiel, Leliel, Zeruel, and Bardiel. Sandalphon is an environmental hazard, rather than a playable character. Lilith is included as a bonus character in the PSP version of the game. On the Evangelion side, there is Unit-00, Unit-00', Unit-01, Unit-01 (Berserk), Unit-02, Unit-03, Unit-04, Mass Production Evangelion, Evangelion Type α, Evangelion Type β, and Jet Alone. The PSP version also includes the updated versions of Unit-00 and Unit-01 from the Rebuild of Evangelion anime series. Additionally, both releases feature a secret guest character, Gunbuster, from the earlier Gainax-produced series Gunbuster: Top o Nerae!

The story mode has one arc for each of the following characters: Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley Soryu, Toji Suzuhara, Kensuke Aida, Rei Ayanami, and Kaworu Nagisa. Each story has a different difficulty level and its own unique ending.

The PSP version also adds a "Missions" mode which consists of a series of 100 different challenges. Most involve defeating Angels by completing certain conditions or while under particular constraints.
