Showboat Run: If a racer pushes his cycle to get out in front early, it usually means he's going to lose the race. But doing just that is what the sponsors want. A racer who races like that is called (derisively) a showboater. ...The Kid's Parent was a famed Cyclon racer, but died on the track in a ball of flames. The Kid has come of age and now races the Parent's old racing seat. Yet, the Kid has been struggling with the endless expenses of Cyclon racing, and is now drowning in debt, with seemingly no way out.
And then, the sponsors come to the Kid with an offer...
