Description

From publisher blurb:

In the city of Calvaris, the sky is a perpetual haze, suffused with ash and the acrid sting of decay. Monolithic spires loom like grim sentinels, their peaks vanishing into the choking clouds. These towers, built on the agony of the downtrodden, serve as the lifeblood of the Covenant Chain—a ruling force that feeds on despair. It is said that the stones themselves scream at night, an echo of the countless lives sacrificed to fuel the infernal engines that drive this desolate empire. Beneath this grim tableau lies a darkness even more profound: the Hollow Veil, a labyrinthine undercity where the broken and banished dwell. The Covenant Chain’s reign is absolute. Its enforcers, both mechanical and arcane, patrol the streets with cold precision, ensuring compliance with laws etched in suffering. To live under their rule is to endure a slow death, your spirit siphoned away to power the unholy machinery of their dominion. Resistance is met with brutality, rebellion silenced before it can draw breath. Yet, in the shadows, whispers stir—a fragile hope born of anger, grief, and desperation. The Hollow Veil is not merely a refuge for the outcast; it is a crucible where the embers of defiance burn brightest. Here, among the forgotten, revolution takes root. The rebels call themselves the Veilborn, a name whispered with equal parts reverence and fear. They are dreamers and pragmatists, poets and killers, united by a singular purpose: to unseat the Covenant Chain and free the people of Calvaris from its iron grasp. But freedom comes at a price, and in this fractured world, every choice exacts its toll. You are one such soul, drawn into the struggle by fate or folly. Perhaps you are a visionary, burdened with a dream too heavy to bear alone. Perhaps you are a blade, honed for a single purpose: to strike at the heart of tyranny. Or perhaps you are merely surviving, caught in the tides of history as they rise to sweep away the old order. Whatever your reasons, the Hollow Veil has claimed you, and with it, the weight of rebellion. The path before you is treacherous, winding through shadows both literal and metaphorical. Trust is scarce, and betrayal is a knife always poised to strike. As you navigate the maze of intrigue and danger, you will uncover secrets long buried—truths that may shatter your resolve or strengthen it. The Covenant Chain’s grip is mighty, but it is not unbreakable. Will you find the courage to challenge it, to forge a new destiny from the ashes of the old? Or will you succumb to the darkness, another casualty in the relentless march of oppression?

In this Solo Adventure you assume the role of a Character in a Dark Science Fantasy setting. You will require The Haven Fallen Core Rulebook (CRB), and any associated Expansions you wish to use to assist you, along with a pen and paper or word-processing document, to play.

The story is set up with an Introduction, a handful of location details and a few pertinent Story Points. The rest is down to you and your imagination.

The Actions you take should depend on who and what you see, and how you wish to interact. Keep a record of your story and adapt it as per the result of each Action. As you progress you will see that you are behaving as your own Storyteller, creating the interactive world in which you are playing.

Use the Character Creation section of the CRB to create your Character and use the Storyteller section of the CRB to assist with generating NPCs.

Once you have familiarised yourself with the following few pages, you are ready to begin.
