A 2D sidescrolling action game, Silhouette Mirage features a dualistic gameplay element, which developer Treasure would later revisit in Ikaruga. Enemies are aligned with one of two aspects; Silhouette and Mirage (essentially, blue and red). The heroine, Shyna Nera Shyna, possesses both of these aspects, one on her left side, and the other on her right side. Therefore, you adjust your active alignment by facing left or right. Like Ikaruga, attacking enemies with the opposite alignment does extra damage.
