"The encumbrance rules for D&D 5E can be an engaging and tactical addition to any game. forcing players to decide what equipment they wish to carry into combat and what they must leave behind. However, recalculating weight values every time a ring is sold or a flask of oil is burned can become tedious. Loosely based on other weight management systems like that of LotFP and the popular Stones system for D&D, this system aims to retain the feeling of tactical weight management that RAW encumbrance provides while drastically limiting the amount of accounting involved. A simple inventory sheet has been provided on page 5 to make conversion and play easier."
