Description

Sinking of the Prince of Wales is a solitaire game that was included in the August 2019 issue of Gakken Historical Images Magazine.

Sinking of the Prince of Wales is a single-player game that recreates the aerial attack by Japanese naval aircraft against the Royal Navy battleship "Prince of Wales" and battlecruiser "Repulse" that took place off the coast of the Malay Peninsula in the South China Sea from December 9th to 10th, 1941. In actual history, the Japanese military achieved the historic feat of destroying both ships, but the player is asked to decide whether they can achieve the same feat.

The magazine also includes the game Carrier War, also designed by Yamazaki. The map for it is on the opposite side of the map. Counters for both games are on the same sheet, and the rules for each game are found in the same rulebook.
