Description

"Look, I ain't in this for your revolution, and I'm not in it for you, Princess. I expect to be well paid. I'm in it for the money." (Han Solo)

If you're "in it for the money" then you'll love the deal you get here. Two subclasses for the price of one and a background thrown in too!

Soldier of Fortune
Some people make a living growing crops. Others build homes or sell goods at the market. Your trade, however, is fighting. Years of adventuring have helped you make a name for yourself as a gun-for-hire. For a fair price, you'll help a group of hopeful adventurers find their way into the dragon's den... although you can't promise to get them all out. That'll cost double!

You no longer need to multiclass to create a truly martial rogue. The Soldier of Fortune gives you a fighting style that improves as your reputation grows. Also, you are one lucky son of a lich, who uses their good luck to save their skin and land their deadly attacks.

Soldier of Misfortune
Yet again, you're the only one who made it back to town in one piece. Yet again, you are sat at the end of the bar, crying into your pint of mead. O, the stories you can tell. How the wizard had his legs bitten off by a giant. How the Barbarian was tricked by a crone. How the Bard forgot the words to the chorus of 'I Will Survive.' You should probably give it up, this adventuring gig. But it's the only life you've ever known.

Somehow, despite all your bad luck, you have managed to survive. A fun revision of the Soldier of Fortune, you too gain certain "Frighting Styles" that keep you alive and improve your attacks. However, rather than luck, your skill as a fighter has been augmented by years of tragedy, seeing your previous companions die at the hands of deadly dragons and brutal beholders.

Survivor Background
You still remember setting out from that merry old inn together, ready to make a name for yourselves. It felt like a game, dungeon delving. Everyone was doing it. You didn't want to miss out. However, although a party of adventurers went into those dark depths, only one came out. You.

As a sellsword, you have seen the true and grizzled face of the adventuring life. With this background, you can really build the concept of a mercenary whose ideals and skills have been forged in the hot furnace of battle.
