From the introduction:

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Hell cowers in a puddle of its own fear when that woman is Dezra Collins. A woman of considerable arcane power and cunning intellect, Dezra lied, connived, and seduced her way into the noble court of Dristal. Though her original aim was simply status, wealth, and power, an unforeseen circumstance halted her plans: she became infatuated with Prince Lorence, the future king of Dristal. From that point forward, all of Dezra’s lying, conniving, and seducing was directed towards garnering the Prince’s affection and eliminating potential rivals.
