Species of Hatteris

Game ID: GID0296528
Collection Status
Description

While these races constitute the primary four species on the island of Hatteris, they seamlessly integrate into any Dungeons and Dragons campaign, whether official or homebrew. Notably, they utilize stats and modifiers not typically associated with other species, incorporating character level and ability scores, not just modifiers. The intention is to imbue these species with relevance, irrespective of the chosen class and character level. Each race boasts a distinctive ability that sets them apart from the others, ranging from the Grey's Gravimancy proficiency to the Romani's unique skill to cast curses, affecting not only enemies but themselves as well.

Every element found in this supplement, and the vast majority of content within any release from the Freetown Project, draws heavy influence from folklore spanning the globe. For instance, the Huldufolk (pronounced Hull-da-folk) originates from Icelandic folklore. Meanwhile, the Hearthbounds incorporate a spirit rooted in old Anglo folklore known as the hearth spirit—an inherently benevolent entity that safeguards a home but will turn malevolent, causing food to spoil, if the house is not properly tended to.
