The Speedmaster is a founding member of GUARD team Alpha. Originally Star Athelete he joined the military and was assisgned to a secret military lab. He was hired by an outside foreign interests to "retrieve" an experimental gas. While trying to break out of the facility he was exposed to the gas and he devolped enhanced speed abilities. He escaped and began a crime spree stretching worldwide. With GUARD's help he was apprehended and negotiated that instead of jail time GUARD would train and recruit him.
