Description

From publisher blurb:

The ancient world of Harth withers beneath its dying sun…but it’s not dead yet.

The pastoral village of Kettle nestles on the banks of a strangely warm lake. A few people are missing. A few creatures prowl in the shadows.

Then the cemetery erupts. A stranger reveals that a magnificent city lies hidden below. Wondrous treasures sit forgotten in towers and vaults, but deadly monsters roar in the darkness…and they’re clawing their way up!

ADVENTURE TYPE: Campaign / Low Level / Exploration / Village / Wilderness / City / Subterranean

DESIGN NOTES

This campaign is intended for low-level characters to progress from Level 1/2 to 5/6. Overall, this is designed to offer roughly equal opportunities for exploration, combat, and social encounters. There are many unique magical items and unique monsters. It is not fair or balanced.
Play time depends on how many areas the PCs choose to explore, how complex the NPC interactions are, and whether the players want to revisit areas to see them evolve. Expect this adventure to run for at least 6 and up to 20 sessions.
Players will explore a small village and wilderness, and then a vast underground chasm with a second village, an ancient city, an under-city, and other caves.
There are numerous NPCs as well as unique magical items and original monsters.
This can be a linear adventure, but it is meant to be recursive. PCs are rewarded for returning to earlier locations with new knowledge or items to “unlock” new features. For example, if you find the smith’s master tools, he can make weapons. If you find rare metals, he can make magic weapons. This is meant to encourage the party to become invested in the world, to find all the hidden secrets and to care about how the setting evolves due to their actions.
