Il gioco tratta un'ambientazione definita gothic steampunk, in pratica una versione alternativa dell'Europa del XIX secolo (in particolare Parigi) dai toni molto cupi e oscuri, abitata in gran parte da umani, ma dove non è infrequente imbattersi in corvi parlanti, lupi mannari, serial killer e ombre assassine.

The game's setting is gothic-steampunk, an alternative Europe of the nineteenth century (especially Paris, very gloomy and dark, inhabited largely by human, but where it is not uncommon to come across ravens that speak, werewolves, serial killers and murderous shadows.
